89 كلّ (each/every/the whole/all)

كل

The word كلّ (kull) covers a range of meanings.  The meaning is determined by how it relates to the word in which it is in  construct.

Uses of كل

  1. “Every”: كل + indefinite singular   كل سنة = every year
  2. “the whole/all”:   كل + def. singular   كل السنة = the whole year
  3. “all…”:  كل + def. plural  كل الطلاب = all of the students
