62 Grammar: the noun adjective phrase

The noun adjective phrase

Adjectives (that is, words that describe nouns) must agree with the word they modify in gender, definiteness, and number (singular or plural).  Note that noun-adjective phrases agree in all ways in the following examples.

a big house bayt kabiir بيت كبير
the new student (f) al-Taaliba al-gadiida الطالبة الجديدة
the pen al-qalam القلم
an American student (m) Taalib Amriikii طالب أمريكي
the Egyptian teachers al-mudarrisin al-maSriyiin المدرّسين المصريين
