71 Grammar: Possessive Suffixes

Possessive pronouns

Possessive pronouns (the word “her” in “her book”) are expressed in Arabic as suffixes added to the word being possessed.  The good news is that these are entirely regularized.  The less good news is that in Egyptian Arabic, the stress pattern slightly changes depending on the vowel pattern to which the suffix is being added.  For now, memorize the basic pattern and do not worry about the stress patterns.
